Podcasting Equipment that takes your podcast to the next-level

Podcasting Equipment

Podcasting equipment isn’t known to be the cheapest or the most accessible. In a world of high fidelity, clarity and WAV vs FLAC, it can sometimes all be a bit overwhelming when it comes to choosing the correct kit for your podcast. Fortunately, at Darlington Stream Space, we take care of all the technical parts so that you can focus on telling your story. But what makes our equipment stand out against the rest, whilst making you sound the best?

FDUCE Microphones

We can tell your stories without a mic, and to record our podcasts, we utilise the ever-reliable FDUCE SL40X. This mic is perfect for capturing a variety of voice types, whilst also boasting a wide frequency response range of 50-14000HZ. This results in a cleaner and purer sound. The SL40X is also perfect for recording audio in any situation with it’s plug and play approach. At Darlington Stream Space, we often find ourselves moving sets around to adapt to our guests’ needs – so being able to unplug these mics and relocate them makes our studio even more versatile!

Tenveo 360 Remote Cameras & Tenveo Camera Controller

Podcasts aren’t just listened to anymore, with more people choosing to watch video podcasts over audio-only ones. In our studio, we offer a video recording of your podcast, with full editing included. To do this, we have set up 3 Tenveo 360 cameras to capture your conversations. We control these using the Tenveo PTZ Camera Controller, with a 5” Screen and a joystick for pinpoint accuracy. This is great for on-the-fly changes that may happen during a live stream, as it saves our producers from having to move from their mixing desk to adjust the cameras on a tripod.

This camera controller also allows us to program as many camera positions as we need, switching between them with a click of a button. The camera controller also allows us to zoom, focus and adjust brightness and contrast. This system is compatible with streaming services such as Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and YouTube, to name a few.

ATEM Mini Pro

As a rule, Darlington Stream Space aims to record, edit and complete a podcast with a 1-week turnaround. To do this, we utilise Blackmagic’s ATEM Mini. This device allows us to record camera changes during recording. It still allows our editors to capture individual angles, but they also get a version of the podcast that is practically already edited together with the correct cuts. Each camera is linked to a button that, once pressed, changes the view in the final edit. This can also be used for changing camera angles quickly during live streams, as we used during the Modeshift Awards 2025, which we integrated into Microsoft Teams.

This approach of “editing live” can only be used with Blackmagic’s own editing software, DaVinci Resolve. Resolve is a free editing software that is now used as standard in the industry, largely used for colour grading, editing and audio post-production. When uploading the pre-edited footage into the software, you will be able to see the cuts you made during the recording, which are also editable.

RØDECaster Pro II

So, we can record using high-quality mics, film the podcasters – but how do we capture the audio to be used in the final product? The RØDECaster Pro II is by far one of the world’s most powerful solutions for podcasting. It’s designed to be intuitive whilst giving producers the range and ability to customise how they want podcasts to sound.

At Darlington Stream Space, this is the podcasting equipment that we rely on the most. Our experienced podcast technicians know how to get the best audio quality out of the mixer, adjusting it where needed to make podcasters sound the best they can.

As we mentioned before, Darlington Stream Space isn’t just about podcasting. We also record audio for musicians, voice-overs and TV advertisements. We were even fortunate enough to have TV personality Helen Skelton in our studio, recording a voice-over for Channel 5, all using the RØDECaster Pro II.
